2What is ALS?
ALS stands for Advanced Life Support and defines a level of service provided for a specific emergency. An ALS crew consists of a Paramedic and an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician).
3What is BLS?
BLS stands for Basic Life Support and defines a level of service provided for a specific emergency. A BLS crew consists of two EMT’s (Emergency Medical Technicians) or one EMT and a First Responder.
4What should I do if I don’t have medical insurance?
When a call to 911 is placed and crews respond our staff will treat and transport you based on your emergency, not on what type of insurance you may or may not have. Our billing department will then generate a bill for service and charge whatever insurance is available for you at the time services were utilized.
It is always suggested that a family or individual purchase a membership, which will mitigate expense to an individual. HALAS memberships cover all out-of-pocket expenses (expenses not covered by insurance) for services provided on unlimited emergency calls.
5Does HALAS provide non-emergency transportation?
Yes, HALAS provides numerous types of non-emergency transports. These include wheelchair transportation to and from Doctors appointments, the hairdresser, funeral services, Easter dinner, church or just about anywhere you may have to be in your wheelchair.

6What does my HALAS membership cover?
Your HALAS membership covers out-of-pocket expenses for unlimited emergency calls HALAS responds to. All bills generated for emergency calls will be submitted to your primary and secondary insurance.
